This performance valvetrain package includes the Competition Cams 31-226-3 Magnum hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, Enginetech performance hydraulic lifters, a true double roller timing set and a Stage 2 high-performance valve spring and retainer kit. Designed for Ford 221–302 small block engines, this kit brings a substantial increase in airflow, acceleration, throttle response and overall power compared to stock or mild performance cams.
The 31-226-3 camshaft features 280° advertised duration, 230° duration at .050, .512″/.512″ lift and a 110° lobe separation angle. This aggressive profile improves volumetric efficiency and moves the powerband upward, providing noticeably stronger pull through mid-range and upper RPM. The .512″ lift pushes the valves deeper into the head’s most efficient airflow region, while the 230° @ .050 duration allows the valves to stay open long enough to dramatically increase cylinder charge. The 110° LSA introduces controlled overlap, giving the engine a sharp, aggressive idle while improving exhaust scavenging.
