Designed for 1969–1991 non-roller Ford 302 hydraulic flat tappet engines, this kit significantly improves torque, throttle response, airflow efficiency and top-end horsepower while maintaining dependable street drivability.
The 31-238-3 camshaft features .493″/.500″ lift, 262°/270° advertised duration, 218°/224° duration at .050 and a 110° lobe separation angle. With lift approaching .500″, the valves open deep into the port’s high-flow zone, where the heads move the most air. The longer duration keeps the valves open during peak flow, improving cylinder filling, combustion efficiency and overall engine output in the 1,300–5,600 RPM band. The 110° LSA introduces controlled overlap, helping exhaust scavenging while maintaining sufficient vacuum for power brakes and a stable idle.
The included double roller timing set stabilizes valve events by reducing chain stretch and maintaining precise cam phasing.
