This kit features the Competition Cams 31-246-3 Xtreme Energy hydraulic flat tappet camshaft paired with Enginetech high-performance lifters. Designed for Ford 221, 260, 289 and 302 hydraulic flat tappet small-block engines, it delivers a major increase in mid-range torque, throttle response, airflow efficiency and top-end horsepower while giving your engine a noticeably more aggressive character.
The camshaft features .519″/.523″ lift, 274°/286° advertised duration, 230°/236° duration @ .050 and a 110° lobe separation angle. With over .519″ lift, the intake and exhaust valves open deep into the cylinder head’s most efficient flow region. Combined with the longer 230°/236° duration @ .050, the engine maintains strong cylinder filling at higher airflow velocities. This dramatically improves mid-range torque and allows the engine to carry power cleanly into higher RPM—perfect for drivers who want strong street/strip performance.
The 110° LSA creates controlled overlap, enhancing exhaust scavenging and intake charge velocity. The result is quicker throttle response, better acceleration and a sharper, more aggressive engine feel. The cam also produces a deep, choppy performance idle with a distinct lope, giving your classic Ford small block a powerful sound and stronger personality.
