This complete valvetrain upgrade includes the Competition Cams 31-331-4 Magnum hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, Enginetech high-performance hydraulic lifters, a true double roller timing set and a Stage 2 valve spring and retainer package. Designed for Ford 221, 260, 289 and 302 small block hydraulic flat tappet engines, this kit provides dramatic increases in airflow, throttle response, idle character and high-RPM horsepower.
The Competition Cams 31-331-4 features 305° of advertised duration, 253° of duration at .050, .540″/.540″ lift and a 110° lobe separation angle. The .540″ lift allows the valves to enter the cylinder head’s high-flow region, unlocking greater breathing capability and more efficient combustion. The 253° @ .050 duration keeps the valves open longer at high lift, improving cylinder filling and enabling stronger mid-range torque and significantly greater upper-RPM power. The tight 110° LSA provides substantial overlap, creating a loud, choppy, race-style idle while increasing scavenging efficiency.
The included true double roller timing set keeps valve events precise by reducing chain stretch and stabilizing cam timing during high-RPM use.
