This complete performance valvetrain kit includes the Competition Cams 31-414-3 Magnum hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, Enginetech hydraulic lifters, a true double roller timing set, Stage 2 high-performance valve springs and retainers, and a set of 6.876-inch push rods. Built specifically for 1969–1991 non-roller Ford 302 hydraulic engines, this kit delivers a noticeable improvement in response, torque, sound and driving feel.
The 31-414-3 camshaft features 270 degrees of advertised duration, 224 degrees duration at .050, .500/.500 valve lift and a 110° lobe separation angle. This combination increases valve lift and duration just enough to significantly improve mid-range torque and airflow without making the engine temperamental or hard to drive. The .500″ lift helps the engine breathe deeper into the port’s high-flow region, while the 224° @ .050 duration adds power from 1,800 to 5,800 RPM. The 110° LSA maintains adequate vacuum while adding a clean performance lope at idle.
The true double roller timing set improves cam timing accuracy and reduces chain stretch, helping maintain consistent valve events at higher RPM. Stage 2 valve springs and retainers supply the strength needed for the cam’s higher lift and faster ramps. The 6.876-inch push rods restore correct valvetrain geometry and provide increased stiffness for performance use.
