It is the perfect choice for a lighter street car—like a Camaro, Nova, or Corvette—equipped with headers, a 4-barrel carburetor, and a desire to go fast on Saturday nights.
The secret to the Magnum’s success is its “Single Pattern” geometry. The 12-212-2 features an identical Duration @ .050 of 230 intake and 230 exhaust, paired with a balanced valve lift of .480”/.480”. This symmetrical design creates a massive, consistent power band from 2,000 to 6,000 RPM. While modern cams try to be subtle, the Magnum is bold. It sacrifices a little bit of low-end smoothness to deliver a rush of mid-range and top-end horsepower that keeps pulling when other cams fall flat.
