This performance kit includes the Competition Cams 31-602-5 Mutha Thumpr hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, Enginetech hydraulic lifters, a true double roller timing set, Stage 2 valve springs with retainers, and a set of 6.876-inch performance push rods. It is designed only for 1969–1991 flat tappet Ford 302 and 5.0L engines and does not fit Fox Body roller engines or any factory roller block. The camshaft features 287 and 304 degrees advertised duration, 235 and 249 degrees duration at .050, .500 and .486 lift, and a tight 107-degree lobe separation angle. These specifications create high valve overlap for the deep Mutha’ Thumpr idle while improving cylinder scavenging and delivering strong mid-range power.
With an operating range of 2,200 to 6,100 RPM, this camshaft dramatically improves throttle response, acceleration, and overall engine performance. The included double roller timing set provides increased timing accuracy and durability, reducing chain stretch common in factory-style sets.
